Part Time Chauffeur

Being a chauffeur can be a very demanding job as chauffeurs are not only expected to drive other people around all day and night so they can have a great night out, the chauffeur also has to ensure their driving is smooth and comfortable for the passengers and their champagne glasses, while making sure they have everything their passengers could possibly need on their trip. The chauffeur also then has to spend several hours after dropping off their passengers, cleaning up the limousine.

Also, in some areas there is a shortage of work for chauffeurs and limo hire companies and so the chauffeurs are either not getting paid as much as they would in busier times, or they are not getting enough hours to pay their bills, either way, some chauffeurs also do other jobs in between their work for a limo hire company.

While some limo hire companies are willing to work around a chauffeur’s schedule and if this schedule is shifts from another employer the limo hire company may not mind. However, other limo hire companies are not as open mined about sharing their chauffeurs and so these chauffeurs have to selective about what they tell their boss if they have two jobs.

The limo hire companies prefer the chauffeurs to work solely for them because they know the chauffeur is there when they are needed. This is especially true during the busy times such as Christmas when the limo hire company often gets large amounts of work at the last minute.

Other limo hire companies specifically ask for loyalty from their chauffeurs and they have a clause in the employment contract which states that the chauffeur can not work for another limo hire company. This protects the limo hire company from losing their chauffeur to their competitors and it stops any information passing from the chauffeur to their competitors, even if it is accidental.

This is not surprising however, as many employers would not want to share their employees with their competitors, especially in an industry such as limo hire where training a good chauffeur can take a lot of time and money.
